ABOUT THE Event
We are so excited to be help the Smith Rock Group with their annual Spring Fling event! Join us for an fulfilling day of volunteering and community celebration! On April 26th, you’ll have the chance to contribute to one of many meaningful projects around the park, from trail maintenance to habitat restoration.
After a rewarding day of work and service, you will come together with fellow volunteers for an evening of fun at the Smith Rock Group’s dinner, auction, and raffle. It’s a perfect way to give back, connect with the community, and support the beauty and future of Smith Rock!
During the event, your Wanderlust guide will also enlighten you about Smith Rock’s incredible history, how this mighty canyon was formed, and more! As the popularity and use of Smith Rock State Park increases, The Smith Rock Group’s work becomes all the more important and we are thrilled to help in their efforts to maintain and improve the beauty of Smith Rock.
For this event, Wanderlust’s Naturalist-guides will be providing transportation as well as interpretation about the history of Smith Rock and the Crooked River Canyon while we are volunteering. Beyond that, we will be working under the scope and guidance of the Smith Rock Group. The details below are taken from the Smith Rock Group’s website. You can find their Spring Fling event page here.
DETAILS
Clean Up Opportunities
Moderate/Hard: Trail maintenance, building retaining walls, moving rocks, etc.
Easy/Moderate: Habitat restoration, planting native plants, removing invasive plants, etc.
When booking, please select your desired level of effort and work!

Saturday, April 26th, 2025
Depart Wanderlust office: 7:00am
Volunteer projects will start around 8:00 - 9:00am
Volunteer projects wrap up around 2:00pm
Wanderlust vans will depart around 2:15pm, arriving back at our office at 3:00pm
Smith Rock Group will be hosting a dinner, auction, and raffle from 4:00 - 6:00pm. Guests that would like to stay for dinner are welcome to drive themselves. For those utilizing their own transportation, please meet at Smith Rock State Park - Overflow RV/ bus parking lot and be ready by 7:45am.

No donation is required to participate but we suggest a donation of $30 per person to go toward the Smith Rock Spring Fling’s efforts and objectives

Free coffee and food in the morning prior to your project starting
Work on meaningful projects that help preserve the park for years to come
Enjoy free food and drinks along with a raffle and auction that fund Smith Rock Group’s ability to buy supplies for projects to come
Transportation: Wanderlust will provide transportation to and from the event, departing from our office
PLEASE BRING
Layers: Springtime can bring a wide variety of weather. Please bring a variety of layers so you are ready for long day outside at Smith Rock! Our work could involve getting a bit dirty so please wear clothes and footwear that can get dirty!
Miscellaneous Gear: Work gloves, Close-toed shoes, water bottle
Snacks: Bring snacks (if desired) & Brown Bag Lunch
